Teamsters Local 406 Spirit of Solidarity Golf Outing

Once again, our annual golf outing was a huge success!  Thank you to all who came out to golf and help support the Labor Heritage Society, we raised over $11,000 and had a great day of fun with our Teamster brothers and sisters!

Taking home the 1st Place trophy’s for the day, with a score of 62, was a team of UPS employees made up of Pat Gerulis, Todd Hart, Rick Definbach, and Pat Norton.  Jeff Eldridge won the “Closest to the Pin” with an amazing distance of 1 whole inch (so close to a hole in one!)

The winner of the 50/50 Raffle, taking home $277, was Rick Schneider.  The most popular winner, however, was Shelly Lubbinga.  She took home the wheel barrow full of liquor for the second year in a row!  Also winning raffles was Dallas Schuster who won the Callaway golf bag and John Green who won the kids wagon.

Once again, thanks to all who participated and helped make this day great!

Local 406 Teamster Delivers Gerald R. Ford Statue to the Capitol

Steelcase driver, Jerry Woodcox, recently had the honor of delivering the statue of Gerald R. Ford to the Capitol building in Washington D.C.  The US Capitol allows each state to have 2 statues in the building and President Ford’s statue is replacing the statue of Zacharia Chandler, the first Mayor of Detroit.

Woodcox picked up the statue in Oregon, IL and drove it to Washington D.C.  He was met on the Ohio turnpike by some people from the Gerald Ford Foundation who documented the trip along the way.  When they arrived in DC, they went through security and were lead through the metal gates into the capital plaza.  The process of unloading the statue of Ford and loading the statue of Chandler (which was then brought to Constitution Hall) was quite time consuming considering it took the riggers approximately 5 hours to get the 11,000 pound solid marble statue of Chandler out of the building and loaded in the trailer.

Woodcox says it was an awesome experience and he was proud to have taken part in it.
